They took over the "reins" of The Beat in June 2005.  As they can't be trusted to instruct classes... they gallop around the country dancing at classes and socials... they could easily turn up at yours !!!!    They work closely with instructors and columnists throughout NZ and overseas to ensure The Beat subscribers are kept up to date with the latest information.

Bringing us the news from the shadows of Mt Taranaki is Janet Chappell from Tequila Gold, she writes on behalf of their group with all the happenings in New Plymouth and on their travels.

Blenheim instructor Judith Cootes along with Bill Marsh regularly brings us the "GOURMET COUNTRY" news fresh from the top of the South Island.   Judith and Gourmet Country Linedancers host one of the biggest line dance weekends on the South Island and these are well supported by those on the other side of the Cook Strait and they in turn support those groups throughout the year

Home of the Rompin' Stompers - Instructor Kerrin and her husband Wayne are not concerned about dressing up for a social theme.  Their home is like a United Nations building and through all there comings and goings they still teach and get to socials.. and that was before we told you that Wayne is a fireman!

BRIAN & JUDY HILL

Brian and Judy have for many years promoted New Zealand line dancing and with their fun bus trips to events throughout NZ they have helped those unable to travel to experience their "non-stop fun" trips.  In 2007 their promotional work was recognised by THE BEAT with a Special Recognition Award.

New Zealand Columnist of the year for 2006, 2007, 2008 & 2009, Mike brings you the news from the classes in the South Canterbury region or as we say "AORAKI ASPECT".  In 2009 this region will host the Beat Awards for the first time and all the news leading up to the BIG event will be here first.

Bill having previous brought us the "GOURMET COUNTRY" now along with his wife Joyce report on their travel across the Cook Strait and around the country as they report on socials and classes they have visited.

Not sure where Morrinsville is... Welcome To Morrinsville will get you there.  Tom & Wendy are Choreographers and have kindly taken on the challenge of covering the news from the Waikato.  For those not sure where Morrinsville is... it's just a few kms East of Hamilton.

PAULINE MOONEY

Canterbury Tales has been a part of THE BEAT for many years. 2011 will see Pauline celebrate 20 years of line dance instruction in New Zealand and she has kindly offered to host the 2011 Beat Awards with her group Linedance Christchurch.   She will report on the build up to this event as well as looking back over the last 19 years of linedancing in New Zealand

SUE ORR

Paihia
Sue was a Special Recognition Award recipient in March 2008 for her work with the Bay of Islands Country Music Festival and promoting linedancing in the Northland region.  Her Northland News reports on the events from Kaitaia down to Auckland, as well as the comings and goings in Paihia (Bay of Islands)... a must for any visitor.

 

MAURICE ROPER

Hamilton
Maurice regularly brought us "WAIKATO WHISPERS".  A promoter of New Zealand choreography through the Great Waikato Choreography Competition which in 2008 celebrated it's 10th Anniversary.  Maurice was a Special Recognition Award recipient in March 2009. 

MAUDE SHERMAN

Whangarei
Having previously lived in Auckland Maude regularly revisits those classes as well as reports on the events and classes she attends in the Whangarei & Northland region.  Living, Laughing and Linedancing which is the title of her magazine column sums up this wonderful lady perfectly.

LUKE WATSON

Christchurch
Luke has already been the International Choreographer of the Year, had the International and New Zealand dance of the year in Australia and NZ respectively.  He now host along with the Dixie Linedancers the Southern Showdown Competitions in Christchurch.  Luke brings a different perspective on line dance matters here in New Zealand.

NADINE YOUNG

Auckland
'YOUNG AT HEART is a new regular column brought to us by Dixie Linedancer Nadine Young who moved to Auckland a few years ago.  She has since had a baby boy Xavier and she's starting classes and heading out to socials in the Auckland region.

GORDON ELLIOTT

Sydney (NSW)
Gordon has been voted International Workshop Instructor of the Year for the last three years at The Beat Awards.  Gordon holds a regular workshop in Wellington in September and dancers come from all over NZ to attend.   His choreography is danced and respected worldwide.  Gordon also organises Line Dance Cruise Holidays and trips. 

BILL LARSON

Perth (WA)
Bill is well known to many New Zealanders, being an ex Kiwi himself.  Having brought us a little sunshine from Queensland's coast he moved to Perth, Western Australia.  It's from here that we get the news from "WAY OUT WEST".  Bill is a respected judge and is often invited to return home for the Big Linedance Competition events to be on the judging panel.

STEPHEN PATERSON

Melbourne (VIC)
Stephen is well known to dancers throughout New Zealand and Australia.  Stephen originally taught in Ashburton before moving to Melbourne.   An accomplished choreographer and workshop instructor he has personality plus and supplies articles to The Beat from time to time. 


CHRIS WATSON

Tamworth (NSW)
Chris has become a mentor for many young dancers both in Australia and New Zealand, and brings us regular updates on happenings with "DARE 2 DANCE" from his home in Tamworth. Chris also host the big linedance events in Tamworth and line dance cruises and trips through his travel company.


JAN WYLLIE

Hervey Bay (QLD)

Jan was the inaugural winner on the International column of the year award for 2007, with her "GIRL TALK", she has defended that title in 2008 & 2009. A respected and much loved Australian choreographer, Jan Wyllie, gives us her views from across the Tasman.

Vivienne is possibly our most traveled columnist regularly heading across the border and down to Tampa Bay, Florida and Las Vegas as well as workshop trips to the UK and Australia.  So buckle up, put your tray away and seat in an upright position as were ready for take off with her next report !

KC & Rosemary along with their Danzbuddies are never short of visitors and when not hosting linedancers they are off dancing around Asia and Australia.  We've seen them dressed as Hippies and Mexicans and even KC as Spiderman... so you know they have a fun time Giving us a peak into the dances doing the rounds in Singapore and the latest reports on their travels and friends they are our 'Danzbuddies in Singapore'.

ALAN HAYWOOD

Cambridgeshire, England
Twice nominated as a rising star in the UK, and regularly nominated for Beat Awards.  Instructor & Choreographer Alan and his wife Fiona report on socials and workshops they attend and bring us the HOT news from the UK... especially which dances are on the runway ready to take off. Alan was a choreography winner in New York and brings fun and bright colours to many of the events he attends.
